I spent a decent amount of time hanging out with Kara watching DVDs of The Muppet Show, completely forgetting about the fact that I set up a date for later that night. The girl called to tell me she was going to be late. Since I completely forgot about the date, I couldn’t exactly get upset over it. I offered to reschedule, and promptly got smacked over the head from the blonde sitting next to me.
So, a couple hours after sleeping with one of my closest friends, I found myself sitting across the table from another girl. A cartoonish map of Italy rested against her wrists as she talked about Graphic Design, her love of Taylor Swift, and an over-abundance of the misuse of the word “ironically”.
With the muppets fresh in my mind I couldn’t help but relate her to Janice. You know the muppet you barely ever see, but is one of the band members of the Electric Mayhem. She talks like a valley girl, and is barely memorable. That was this date. Fine for the moment, in a couple side sketches, but hardly a compelling enough main character. If Janice got a bizarre, boring spinoff this would be what her life would be like. Boring guys at Italian restaurants, and wondering why none of them never call a second time who pretend to be chivalrous and waiting until date two to kiss, but really can’t even muster up the strength or interest to kiss them.
